Tight Binds

Postby Testercles » Wed Feb 11, 2009 6:42 pm

I was just throwing for a few hours and it came to my attention that most of the time when I do a bind, it's not very strong at all. I can't get a real strong sleeper from the yoyo unless I hand wind.
I use front binds, not being able to do any others yet and was wondering if there's anythin I could do to amend this?

By front style bind... what exactly do you mean?

Backspin binds are always the best way to bind (frontstyle or sidestyle) as the incident of snagging and whacking your elbow is greatly reduced. It also binds much tighter than regular binds.

As for loose binds. This is usually caused by an overly wide gap or a friction sticker that's wearing out.

Make your gap narrower or replace your sticker and you should be sweet.

A hint for getting tight binds is to really pull the string into the gap don't just kinda drop it into the gap. Pull it in and let it go when you feel it wanting to come back.
