Glow in the dark yoyoing

Postby Dented » Thu Mar 26, 2009 6:51 pm

Anybody ever played with light up yoyos/ glow in the dark yoyos at a dance party? If so, doe anybody have any tips on flashy tricks that could be performed?

I did pull out a yo-yo at a rave quite a few years ago. Given the abundance of UV lighting at such events the old yellow slick 6 string gives off a good glow. I wasn't using a glow/light up yo-yo but it impressed everyone around me nonetheless.

Having said that, people off chops are easily impressed so I wouldn't worry too much about trick selection.

What he said. They love it, but it doesnt have to be much. Lotsa pinwheels, grinds are good. And be sure to do a few pauses on the beat. Elihops are great for this.

Im putting together a yoyo, that will hopefully, fit this perfectly.

This : http://www.yoyonation.com/product_detailed_images.php?productid=16599

With the lights of this : http://www.yoyonation.com/product_detailed_images.php?productid=16551

Ill be removing the logos, and depending how the light goes through the plastic when under UV lights, Ill swap them for plastic or enyo caps, with a hole drilled through for easy popping on the go if i want to play it without lights. And due to its long last and lack of maintenece, silicon recess, and Ill glue/silicon in the spacers, so all i need to worry about is the bearing when i open her up. No trying to find a spacer on the floor.

Ill make a new post when this is done, perhaps step by step photos.

Now all I need is a name for her.

There was a vid posted at the yoyoing.com videos site ages ago of some yoyoing under UV lighting with stripey string.

It's sick, look it up.

Inspired by this thread I went ahead and made a quick video.

No flashy (pun?) tricks or anything, but hey. I do what I can.

That I did. I'll be sure to use more of my music for backing in future videos. Might as well, the stuff goes unheard otherwise.

Yeah I didn't go so heavy on the tricks as you saw. It was more just about the fact that I thought it looked cool (and it gave me an excuse to use my video camera). The LEDs in those batman yo-yos are blue so they make stuff glow nice. That and they're powered by 4.5 volts as opposed to the usual 3 volts, so they're pretty bright.

I went and bought another fistful of them yesterday so I'm ready to LED up a bunch of stuff. If anyone wants a pair of the boards let me know, I'll hook it up for $2 (I get free postage at work).

Paypal I guess, PM me your details and I'll send you my paypal email assuming you have it, if not direct debit would do. If I post express tomorrow, they should arrive Wednesday. Whether they'd arrive in the morning or afternoon I couldn't say. I wouldn't be able to get away with free express postage however, that would add another $3.50 to the total.

The bearings in them have a plastic race, and yeah the shop you saw them at would be one of "The Reject Shop" stores as I mentioned in the video description.

The LED boards are glued in but come out fairly easily. I just pry them out with a screwdriver.
